Play Fastwater files in VLC

VLC plays any format on every platform. It can't browse a WebDAV server, but it plays a file from its link.

Works on Windows, macOS, Linux, iPhone, and Android.

Before you start

WebDAV is on the Standard and Pro plans. On the Apps page, press Set up on VLC: it creates a key for this app and shows these steps with your details filled in.

Connection details

Server
https://fastwater.app/dav/
Username
fastwater (any name works)
Password
Your WebDAV key

For an app without a password field, use the link with the key in it, https://fastwater.app/dav/YOUR_KEY/, and keep it secret.

Steps

VLC cannot browse a WebDAV server, but it plays a file from its link. Open the link with key in a browser, copy a file's link, and open it in VLC (Open Network Stream on a computer, Stream on a phone).

Good to know

  • Files are read-only. Add and delete them in Fastwater.
  • Files open through a redirect to a signed storage link, so the app must follow redirects. Every app in these guides does.
  • WebDAV does not save watch progress to Fastwater. Each app keeps its own.
  • Create one key per app, so you can sign one out alone under TV and devices.
