Privacy policy

Last updated October 23, 2026

This policy explains what Fastwater collects when you use fastwater.app, its API, and apps that connect to it, and what we do with it. We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.

What we collect

  • Account details: your email address, and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google. Sign-in is handled by Clerk.
  • What you add and store: the links and files you add, the files we fetch for you, their names and sizes, subtitles, and where you stopped watching.
  • Technical data: IP addresses, browser and device details, and request logs. We use them to run the service, enforce rate limits, and stop abuse.
  • Payment details: when you pay, Stripe processes your card. We see your plan and payment status, not your card number.
  • How you found us: your browser remembers your first visit to fastwater.app (the site that linked to us, the campaign tags in the link, and the page you landed on) and sends it when you create an account, with your answer if you tell us how you heard about Fastwater. It stays in your browser otherwise.

How we use it

  • To download, store, and stream your files, and to keep your playback progress.
  • To sign you in, bill you, and send you emails about your account and files.
  • To keep the service secure, investigate abuse, and respond to legal notices.
  • To measure storage, bandwidth, and costs in aggregate.
  • To learn which links and sites bring people to Fastwater.

Shared storage

When two people add the same file, we store one copy. Other users never learn that you have a file. The API can report whether a file is already stored, but not who stored it.

Who we share it with

We share data only with the companies that run parts of the service for us:

  • Clerk, for accounts and sign-in.
  • Google, if you choose to sign in with Google.
  • Backblaze, which stores files.
  • Stripe, for payments.
  • Our server and logging providers, which host the service and keep its logs.

We also share data when the law requires it, or to act on a valid copyright notice. If you send a counter-notice, we send it, with your contact details, to the person who sent the notice, as the law requires (see our copyright policy). Apps you connect, such as Putflix, get only the access you approve. You can remove that access on your Account page.

Cookies

We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.

How long we keep it

We keep your account data while your account is open. Files stay until you delete them, until your plan's retention period ends, or until your account closes. After a file has no owner, we remove it from storage within about 30 days. Logs are kept for a limited time for security. Records of copyright notices and strikes are kept while they count under our repeat-infringer policy, and as long as the law requires.

Your choices

You can delete files at any time. To get a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account, email support@fastwater.app. We answer within 30 days.

Children

Fastwater is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We will post changes here and update the date at the top. For a significant change, we will email you first.
